The Winter Caribbean Cup 2008 took place on December 11 to 14, Puerto Rico.
An exciting four days of racing with two days of practice Thrusday and Friday, five rounds of qualifiers on Saturday and all mains on Sunday. There were some attendance from top racers of the
US, including Serpents Paolo Morganti and Mugen Mike Swauger.
Another good event for Serpent America at the Toys for Tots race.
Toys for Tots Race 2008
Every year the Homestead race crew holds the "Toys for Tots" race for the less privileged children. I love being apart of this race to raise as many toys as possible. It is nice to see racers in a different mind frame. Putting the kids first and being a part of an awesome cause.
The attached pictures show DJ’s TQ and Winning Serpent 960 along with Paolo who performed excellent pit during the final.
The 960-08 set-up is posted under set-ups section in racing or in the 903008 page. Try it, its...
This weekend we had the 4th round of the Florida State Series.
I arrived on Saturday morning to find the track had been prepared very well. I decided to run both classes and looked forward to hanging with the boys.
I started practice with the 1/8 scale and felt like it was very hard to drive. I started working on the setup, but could not seem to find a balance I was happy with. The car was so nervous to drive I could not turn consistent laps. I decided to take a break and run the sedan for a tank to see what it was doing. I had my standard setup and it felt good. I parked the sedan and...
We have just completed Round 3 of the Florida State Series which was held at the awesome Kissimmee race track in the Orlando Florida area. Paolo and I made our way to the track on Friday afternoon and decided to get some practice. Paolo ran 1/8 and I ran sedan. We shared pit work and tried to get our cars ready for the weekend.
On Saturday I wanted to test the set up I ran and the Nationals, as it was different than I normally use. I ran the first 2 qualifiers and played with some minor adjustments. The car was really good, but not what I am use to. I had to change my driving style a little...
Paolo Morganti and Dj Apolaro were both in great shape with the Mega powered Serpent 720 cars.
A 2nd place for Paolo and a 3rd place for DJ showed the pace was excellent.
Very stabile 720 cars, good handling, no traction rolling and very quick and consistent.
In the final things started of well, but Paolo broke a belt which very rarely happens.
DJ was leading the A-Main for a while, even with a half lap leap and doing well with his tyres staying very well and no reason to change. However a locked one-way bearing in this 2-speed ended his hopes.
Thanks to the club at Frt Meyers...
DJ Apolaro reports on the opening round of the Florida State Series which kicked off at the Homestead track over the weekend and saw Serpent claim the silverware in both 1:10 Sedan and 1:8.

This year was the 31st running of the Texas Biggie, one of the longest running races in the US, where Serpent driver Jeremy Cupps came away with the race victory driving his 960 '08. Jeremy sent us this short report on the event -
With almost 230 entries, for both Sedan and 1:8 scale, Capitol Classic at the beautiful 301 Raceway is definitely one of the top US event in 2008. Despite a really strong storm with a Tornado watch on Wednesday, weather was pretty good for the rest of the week. Actually it was really hot (around 85% humidity and 99F in the pits) with the track temp around 140F. Team Serpent was present with a its drivers to participate in the event and support the other Serpent racers competing there.
Over the weekend Team Serpent USA driver DJ Apolaro was in action in the ROAR Region 4 Championships where the Sedan star was also at the controls of a 960 '08.
DJ sent us this account of his busy weekend where we think its fair to say he just started a love affair with 1:8 Gas Onroad racing -
