The Hong Kong Serpent Nitro Tour took place last weekend at the ACO Racing Track in New Territories, Hong Kong. Run by World Model Co. the event was once again a huge success attracting 125 entries.
In the 1:10 200mm it was Japanese ace Yuua Sahashi who TQ'd the event but in the final he would retire at the 30-minute mark. This left Chui Kai Leung who qualified fifth for the final to take the win from Chiu Samuel with Hyunho Ahn completing the podium.
In 1:8 Tadahiko Sahashi took pole for the event from his brother Yuua but once again back luck was to hit the pole sitter as Tadahiko retired...
With rain affecting round 5 and 6 on Thursday, the organisers cancelled the running for that day and decided to try and run round 6 on Friday morning before the lower finals. Unfortunately the weather didnt want to play along and the 6th round of qualifying was also abandoned. This left Serpent 960 racer, Massimo 'Max' Fantini in pole position for this years World Championship, having set the fastest time in qualifying on Wednesday, a fantastic result for the team who are using the new rear end for this World Championships.
Massimo Fantini has continued to lead the way in Argentina by going faster in Wednesdays round 3 and 4, held early for the faster heats 7-12. The Italian driver, racing the Serpent 960 bettered his previous pole time by 9 seconds to secure the top spot going into the final days qualifting. The 2nd position is held by Lamberto Collari, over 3 seconds behind, with Adrien Bertin in 3rd and Chris Tosolini in 4th.
The Serpent team are at this years 1/8th scale World Championships in Cordoba Argentina and the event has gotten off to a very good start for the team with the first 2 rounds of qualifying complete and seeing 2 Serpent 960s at the head of the field. Overnight pole position belongs to Italian racer Massimo Fantini who set a time of 33L 10:09.45 in his second round of qualifying to go quickest and improve on his first round time by 1 second. Backing up this top result for Serpent is Fantini's team mate Fabio Domanin who pulled a great run out of the bag in the slightly cooler 2nd round to go 2nd...
Yuya Sahashi is the 2007 Japanese 1:8 National Champion. Racing over the weekend at Central Racing Park, the international racing star clinched the presitgious title in style winning the event with his Mega powered Serpent 960 '07 by almost a full lap.
On April 8th the Suwon circuit played host to the first of five Serpent Korea Cup races which are being support by full size car manufacturer Hyundai Motors.
Attracting 60 racers and organised by Serpent's Korean distributor the race was open to racers of all makes of 1:10 and 1:8 cars who were each given three 5-minute heats and a 30 minute final.
Special guests at the event were the famous Sahashi brothers from Japan along with new Serpent Driver Development signing Nam SangJun.

Not just any two racers but the Sahashi brother from Japan who can be described as the Schumachers of r/c racing. Not being able to do any nitro racing since September it was great to be on the track again. Starting my trip in Sweden with a quick stop at the Serpent factory in Holland on my way to Bangkok Thailand and the Serpent Asia Nitro Tour of 2007. While at the track it was great fun to meet up old friends again, especially the old buddies from Korea who I hadn't seen for several years! Also talking a lot with my good friends from Serpent Indonesia...
The first Serpent Nitro Tour of the 2007 season took place over the weekend in Bangkok, Thailand, with a massive 140 racers taking part in the hugely successful event.
